Hi, my name is Sara Paiz (Sara is in Spanish, pronounced similarly to Zara but with an s). I was born in Guatemala and immigrated to Chicago with my family when i was 5!
I really enjoy doing community work, playing tennis even though im not a 10/10, swimming, cooking, writing, spending time with my family and with my two cats. I love kids and have worked with them for 12+ years as well.
Coffee is a huge part of my culture. I have been drinking it since before i could remember anything. Guatemala is known for her coffee, and it is one of my countries biggest economic fuels. I have a lot of family in Guatemala that have coffee farms. I like to think that i am making my ancestors proud when i learn about the many different processes coffee beans go through, and when I make someone a cup of coffee that they just cant their mind off of. For me making someone coffee is a love language that has been passed down to me for many generations. and one i hope to pass down to my kids one day.
What is one thing about you people would be surprised to know?
That im also a death doula!
What is your favorite thing to do in Evanston?
I love walking around downtown Evanston, and sitting on the rocks overlooking the lake.
What is your favorite part of the job?
Aside from drinking amazing coffee all day, I really enjoy engaging with folks and getting to know people. I love creating community with costumers and fostering relationships.
Where would you most like to live?
I would choose where I currently live over and over again 🙂
What is the one activity that you can get lost for hours doing?
That is a hard question…I have ADHD, so in order for me to be able to do that, I have to be super hyper fixated on something. Sometimes that can be a book, or obsessively learning a song on the ukulele until I perfect it, and then I’ll never play it again. Sometimes it’s a person. But often times its doing absolutely nothing but laying with my cats.
What is your favorite drink on your coffee shop’s menu?
Mmmm, my favorite drink isn’t on the menu, but its so good! Honestly though, anything with oat or macadamia milk is a dream.
Wrapping it up!
